During the recent State of Play presentation, Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo series, surprised viewers with an announcement: a major free update, Spec III, is coming to *GT7* in December, adding a lot of new content.
New tracks and cars
We’re excited to announce two brand-new race tracks, something our players have requested for over a year! You’ll be able to experience the famous Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Canada and Yas Marina in the United Arab Emirates – both well-known from Formula 1 racing.
Okay, so next to the main feature, there are gonna be eight cars you can drive! They’ve shown off four so far: the Ferrari 296 GT3, the Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R, Mine’s BNR34 Skyline GT-R, and this cool 90s Formula 1 car that they haven’t fully revealed yet. Plus, it looks like the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which came out a few months ago, will be in the game too.

Other new features in Spec III
Moreover, there will be some changes in the gameplay of Gran Turismo 7:
- a “data logger” will be added, providing detailed telemetry;
- weekly challenges will be expanded, in addition to races, they will include activities such as time trials or special missions;
- in the Cafe, we will find an enigmatic “seasonal menu”;
- in Practice mode on the track, we will take part in new challenges;
- there will be an opportunity to obtain permanent invitations to the showrooms of individual brands;
- the maximum level of the collector will be raised;
- online races will receive “improvements.”
We will likely learn more details closer to December.
Sales milestone
On June 25th, Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that the *Gran Turismo* series has now sold over 100 million copies worldwide.
Update 1.63
Just a quick update: Gran Turismo 7 received a new update yesterday (version 1.63) which includes five new cars.
- Hyundai Elantra N ’23,
- Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster 12R ’25,
- Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo,
- Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40V ’74,
- Toyota RAV4 Adventure ’20.
So, the latest update, Spec III, is coming in as version 1.64. That basically means we probably won’t see any big new stuff added to *GT7* in October or November, which is a little disappointing, but at least we know what to expect!
