Google Play just got a major update! Google is officially launching its ability to play games on both phones and computers, moving it out of testing. They’re also working to make the Google Play Store more tailored to each user, using artificial intelligence to improve the experience.
Google is working to make gaming more seamless across different devices, as announced in a recent blog post. They’ve officially launched Google Play Games on PC after a three-year beta period. This lets you enjoy select Google Play games on both your phone or tablet and your computer, with your game progress and any rewards carrying over between them.
So, Google’s not just releasing this new thing, they’re also making everything work better together for us gamers! Now, all the Play Points I earn – whether I’m grinding on my phone or PC – are in one place. That means I can use them for cool stuff in games or even grab something from the Google Store. It’s awesome because everything’s connected now!
Throughout the announcement, the company highlighted its focus on making the Google Play Store more personal and smarter with AI. The app is getting new features to offer tailored recommendations, all organized in a new “You Tab” that shows users what’s happening with their activity. They’re also redesigning game pages to make it easier to find user reviews, developer news, and other important details. Soon, users will even be able to ask questions about games directly on those pages, likely using AI.
Google is enhancing Google Play by adding new ways to interact with games. Users can now use Sidekick, a feature that appears on top of gameplay and shows details like achievements and rewards. Eventually, Sidekick will be powered by Gemini, Google’s AI, and become a helpful assistant that offers guidance without interrupting the game.
Google Play Games is now available for PC for everyone, and the first major improvements are being released now. Features powered by artificial intelligence are planned to be added over the next few months.
