Currently, certain businesses are utilizing AI in video game development. However, a new AI is emerging with potential to assist individuals in playing games. Google is at present experimenting with an AI claimed to swiftly analyze on-screen data in real-time and provide guidance to players on the best course of action.

Google shared details about its Gemini 2.0 AI model, emphasizing its advantages. Agents developed by Gemini 2.0 are employing popular Supercell games such as Clash of Clans and Hay Day to evaluate the technology’s capacity to learn and discern the “rules and intricacies across a wide variety of games.” The concept is that these agents can interact with players through tips and strategies, while also utilizing Google Search to find pertinent information.

The main concern here is whether gamers genuinely desire or require an AI companion in their games. Introducing AI could potentially create more confusion than assistance, especially when it disrupts the game’s storyline progression. Moreover, the games used as test cases are relatively basic compared to AAA console and PC titles. If this AI performs as expected, it might still be a while before it can effectively function with more complex games.
