Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Aziz Ansari‘s directorial debut “Good Fortune.”
In the role of writer, director, producer, executive producer, and actor, Ansari presents “Good Fortune,” a story about Gabriel, an angel who means well but often bungles things, as he interferes in the lives of two contrasting individuals: a hard-up gig worker (Ansari) and a successful venture capitalist (Seth Rogen). Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer also feature in this production.
In a prior declaration, Ansari expressed that Keke is a joy to collaborate with. He’s thrilled she’s joined our team and can’t wait to offer a testimonial for this news article revealing her role in the cast.
This movie, serving as Azari’s initial directorial venture in features after his role as both star and creator on Netflix’s “Master of None,” is being produced by Azari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang. In addition to this, Azari, Christopher Woodrow, Connor DiGregorio, and Jonathan McCoy are serving as executive producers. The movie is supervised for Lionsgate by Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey, while Dan Freedman, Phil Strina, John Biondo, and Matt Leonetti have negotiated the deal on behalf of the studio.
The movie titled “Good Fortune” is a collaborative production by Garam Films, Oh Brudder, Keep Your Head, and Yang Pictures. It’s presented to you by Lionsgate in partnership with Media Capital Technologies. Originally planned for release in 2022 under the name “Being Mortal,” this was Ansari’s first feature as a director. However, the project did not proceed with Searchlight Pictures following allegations of sexual harassment against its former lead actor, Bill Murray, involving a young female crew member.
Rogen and Palmer were set to appear in “Being Mortal,” a movie adaptation of Atul Gawande’s 2014 book. In 2022, Palmer informed EbMaster that the script would require significant changes following Murray’s departure, but suggested Aziz might be able to find a solution if someone could figure it out.
