God Of War TV Series' Big Shakeup Leads To Great News For Battlestar Galactica Fans

As a seasoned gamer with a knack for recognizing talent, I must say that the news of Ronald D. Moore taking the reins for the God of War TV series has me thoroughly intrigued. With his extensive background in genre storytelling and his notable successes on Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, and For All Mankind, I have no doubt that Moore will breathe new life into this iconic franchise.

This month, news emerged that the creative team behind Amazon Prime Video’s God of War series had parted ways. However, a replacement has been found for the writing and showrunning roles – Ronald D. Moore, an experienced writer in the genre field with numerous years under his belt.

Known primarily for his role in the 2003 Battlestar Galactica reboot which aired for four seasons on Syfy, Ronald D. Moore is also a key producer for Outlander on Starz and For All Mankind on Apple TV+. Moore has had extended tenures with Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and a brief period on Star Trek: Voyager. His additional works encompass Roswell and Carnivàle.

Back in 2005, I found myself immersed in the epic saga that is the God of War series, initially on PlayStation 2. It was here where I assumed the role of Kratos, a fierce warrior harboring an unforgivable grudge against Ares, the embodiment of Greek warfare. Throughout the original trilogy and its subsequent spin-offs, my character’s thirst for vengeance led to the dethronement of Ares and a brief ascension as the new god of war. However, this power brought about a destructive feud with the Olympians that continues to unfold in these captivating games.

The TV series produced by Amazon Prime Video seems to have drawn inspiration from the 2018 video game God of War, where an older Kratos resides in the land of the Norse gods alongside his son, Atreus. With a change in creative direction under Moore, it remains uncertain if the show will follow this narrative, delve into Kratos’ initial storyline, or take a completely new path. Regardless, it appears that the God of War series may not be airing on Amazon Prime Video for several more years.
