Located in Japan, Metaplanet has made a significant mark in the hotel industry recently, particularly with its bitcoin (BTC) investment strategy, mirroring Michael Saylor’s approach at MicroStrategy (MSTR). Notably, Capital Group increased their stake in Metaplanet, as mentioned by CEO Simon Gerovic in a recent post.
Metaplanet, which currently possesses approximately 1,762 Bitcoins, ranks as the 15th largest publicly-traded corporation with Bitcoin holdings. After implementing a Bitcoin treasury strategy in April 2024, their stock price has surged more than 1,700%.
Capital Group is additionally one of the major shareholders of MicroStrategy (MSTR), holding approximately 8.4% of the company through ownership of 18.4 million shares. Only Michael Saylor, founder and Executive Chairman, has a larger stake in the firm. Notable other investors include Vanguard Group, Morgan Stanley, and Jane Street Group.
