As a seasoned movie-watching connoisseur who has witnessed the likes of Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and now Eli Manning grace the silver screen, I must say that Glen Powell‘s transformation into Chad Powers is nothing short of electrifying! The man oozes charm and charisma in every role he plays, but this time around, it feels like we’re witnessing a true football legend in the making.
As Glen Powell takes on the role of the charismatic college athlete Chad in the upcoming Hulu comedy series “Chad Powers,” it truly feels like a perfect fit, doesn’t it? Known for his performance in “Twisters,” Powell is set to bring his talent to the field as a football player in this half-hour show. Co-created by Powell and Michael Waldron, this series from 20th Television is inspired by a popular 2022 sketch where Eli Manning disguised himself to attend Penn State’s walk-on tryouts. In a joint statement when “Chad Powers” received a series order in February, Powell and Waldron shared, “We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.” No release date has been announced yet, but we’ve already gotten a first-look photo hinting at Powell possibly undergoing a significant transformation, much like he did for “Hit Man,” as well as casting confirmations of a few other players. Stay tuned for more updates!
What’s the plot?
In essence, the character Chad Powers is portrayed as a football player who’s experiencing a downfall in his career, as he takes on the role of Russ Holliday, a once-promising quarterback whose misconduct has ended his college career. The nature of his indiscretions seems severe enough that he resorts to an extreme transformation, joining a struggling Southern football team under the guise of the charming and talented Chad Powers. For a glimpse into what Powers’ character might be like, you can watch the sketch where Eli Manning originally played this role.

Who else is on the team with Powell?
According to Deadline, the schedule has been filled with updates regarding the roster. As reported by Deadline, Steve Zahn from ‘The White Lotus’ will portray Jake Hudson, a head coach who could potentially change his and his team’s fortunes with Chad Powers’ talent. Perry Mattfeld known for ‘In the Dark’ will take on the role of Ricky, an assistant coach for her father’s struggling team, who is wary of Powers. The complete cast includes Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, the team mascot, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, and Wynn Everett playing a character named Tricia.
Apart from their on-field roles, Powell and Waldron are also serving as executive producers. They are joined in this role by both Eli and Peyton Manning.
Have we gotten a first look?
Indeed, it seems Powers is sporting a longer hairstyle, a small mustache, and what appears to be a false nose, Powell.
