‘Gladiator II’ Claims U.K., Ireland Box Office Crown

As a seasoned movie aficionado with over three decades of cinema exploration under my belt, I must say that this week’s U.K. and Ireland box office has certainly piqued my interest! The grandeur of “Gladiator II” seems to have captured the hearts of audiences, while the charm of “Paddington In Peru” continues to win over young and old alike.


In the U.K. and Ireland, Paramount’s “Gladiator II” had a triumphant debut at the box office, earning an impressive £9.1 million ($11.5 million) during its first weekend, as reported by data from Comscore.

In its second week, StudioCanal’s “Paddington in Peru” continued to gather pace, earning a total of £6.8 million, bringing its overall earnings to £18.8 million. Meanwhile, “Red One,” distributed by Warner Bros., took third place with £1.4 million, boosting its two-week earnings to £4.6 million.

In its third week of release, “Heretic” from Entertainment Film Distributors earned an additional £505,118, bringing its total earnings to £4.9 million. On the other hand, Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance” has been steadily performing, earning another £398,650 in its fourth week, making its total earnings reach £11.8 million so far.

In its fifth week, Universal’s “The Wild Robot” continued to be a strong performer with a total earnings of approximately £3.87 million, bringing its grand total to an impressive £13.2 million. On the other hand, Lionsgate U.K.’s “Small Things Like These” collected £326,315 over a three-week period, accumulating a total of £3 million.

In its premiere, Trafalgar Releasing’s production of “Kiss Me, Kate: The Musical” grossed £258,966, while Trinity’s film “The Last Dance” made £187,203, adding up to a grand total of £1 million. The concert film starring Andrea Bocelli, titled “Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration,” brought in £179,352 through Fathom Events, securing its place among the top 10 earners.

On the upcoming Thursday, you’ll find two documentaries hitting the screens: “Liverpool Story,” produced by Shut Out the Light and CinemaLive, and “Girl From The North Country” starring Olivia Colman, Woody Harrelson, and Chloe Bailey. Enjoy!

This coming Friday, “Wicked,” featuring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jonathan Bailey, will premiere at Universal, while “Bread & Roses,” an Apple Original Films documentary showcased at Cannes, will also debut. The film “Mediha,” from Together Films, is set to be released as a CPH: DOX title. This documentary chronicles the story of Mediha, a young Yazidi girl who has just been freed from ISIS captivity.

The ruler has announced that they will release a documentary titled “The Man with a Thousand Faces,” which was previously screened at Raindance. Curzon is set to present the Sundance title “Layla” in its opening, while Dogwoof is unveiling the documentary “Blink,” initially shown at Telluride. Day For Night is debuting the late Pema Tseden’s award-winning film “Snow Leopard” from Tokyo and Vesoul.

Over the festive season, Magnetes Pictures will debut “Listy Do M. 6,” the newest installment in the popular Santa series from Poland, and Kaleidoscope will present “The Enchanted Reindeer: Safeguarding Santa’s Sleigh.

Zee Studios International is opening Punjabi-language film “Hey Siri Ve Siri.”
