As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with a soft spot for epic historical dramas, I can confidently say that the release of Gladiator 2 is like a dream come true! With its intriguing plotline and star-studded cast, this sequel promises to be a captivating ride that will surely keep us on the edge of our seats.
25 years later, Gladiator 2 made its theater debut on November 22. Although its cinema run is only beginning, some retailers have already started accepting pre-orders for the upcoming 4K Blu-ray version of the movie. You can find various options at Amazon, such as a limited edition steelbook version priced at $51 and a regular release.
In the sequel to Gladiator, titled Gladiator 2, the narrative unfolds twenty years after the events of the first movie. The protagonist is Lucius, the son of Maximus, who was portrayed by Russell Crowe in the original. After the Roman Empire invades Carthage, Lucius is captured and, like his father, is forced to train as a gladiator for combat in the arena. Alongside Paul Mescal as Lucius, Gladiator 2 boasts an impressive cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Connie Nielsen. The film has earned praise from critics, many of whom consider it a worthy continuation of Ridley Scott’s initial masterpiece.
The 4K version of the initial Gladiator movie in a Steelbook case has been re-released and can be bought from Amazon now for $28 (previously priced at $31). However, Walmart is offering the same Steelbook edition for only $20, but it seems to be out of stock at the moment.
In case the Steelbook edition runs out on Amazon, you might opt for the standard 4K Blu-ray edition of Gladiator priced at $28. This version encompasses both the theatrical and unrated versions of the film. Additionally, there’s a two-pack deal available that bundles the 4K versions of Gladiator and Mel Gibson’s Braveheart for $24 (originally $34).
