Gina Rodriguez Cast in ‘Will Trent’ Season 3 at ABC

As a longtime admirer of Gina Rodriguez‘s talent and versatility, I am thrilled to see her joining the cast of “Will Trent” as Marion Alba. Her extensive experience in both dramatic and comedic roles on shows like “Jane the Virgin,” “Not Dead Yet,” and “Lucky 13” will undoubtedly bring a rich depth and nuance to this new character.

Gina Rodriguez has joined the Season 3 cast of the ABC drama “Will Trent” as a series regular.

She will play Marion Alba, who is described as a “charismatic, confident assistant district attorney who is new to Atlanta. After her first encounter with Will (Ramón Rodriguez) falls flat, the pair is surprised to learn that they must work together to investigate a crime in the world of Atlanta gangs.”

As a passionate film aficionado, I’m recognized primarily for helming “Jane the Virgin,” the captivating CW dramedy that graced our screens from 2014 to 2019. Subsequently, I found myself in the starring role of the ABC sitcom “Not Dead Yet” from 2023 to 2024. Simultaneously, I’ve had the pleasure of hosting the game show “Lucky 13” on ABC. In the realm of cinema, I’ve graced the silver screen in Miranda July’s “Kajillionaire,” Catherine Hardwicke’s “Miss Bala,” and Alex Garland’s “Annihilation.” Additionally, you might have caught me in Netflix productions such as “Players,” “Spy Kids: Armageddon,” and “Someone Great.” I am fortunate to be represented by the esteemed talent agencies WME and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

The series focuses on “Will Trent”, a special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who was left at birth and spent his childhood in Atlanta’s foster care system. With an exceptional record of resolutions, he is one of the bureau’s top performers. Among the cast are Ramón Rodriguez, Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

The show is adapted from Karin Slaughter’s book series with the same title. Liz Heldens and Daniel Thomsen share the role of co-showrunners, and they are joined by Karin Slaughter, Oly Obst, Howard Deutch, Ellen Marie Blum, and Ramón Rodriguez as executive producers. The studio behind this production is 20th Television.
