It’s been a while since new episodes of Marvel’s Jessica Jones aired—the last ones were in 2019—and many fans are hoping for a similar show to be made. Gillian Jacobs, known for her role in Community, has suggested a series based on the character Dakota North, and she’s eager to participate in its creation.
Stephanie Jacobs is well-known as the voice of Atom Eve in the animated superhero series Invincible on Prime Video. While promoting the fourth season of the show with her co-star Steven Yeun, she mentioned her love for the Dakota North comic book series. Jacobs believes Dakota North would make an excellent TV show, even though it only had a short run, because she thinks the character is very engaging and has a lot of potential.
Invincible’s Gillian Jacobs Wants a Dakota North TV Show
I have an idea for a TV show. There was this Marvel comic called Dakota North – it didn’t last very long, but I think it would be fantastic adapted for television. I’d likely be involved in the project somehow. I just recently rediscovered the comic, and I’m really impressed by its visual style and the fun, engaging character. I’ve always been a fan of Dakota North.
Dakota North, sometimes simply known as “.”, is a private detective created by Martha Thomases and Tony Salmons. She first appeared in Marvel’s Dakota North #1 in 1986. Similar to Jessica Jones, she’s a talented investigator, but unlike many heroes, she doesn’t have superpowers. Instead, she uses her sharp mind and impressive fighting skills. She’s also a skilled shooter and an excellent driver of both cars and motorcycles.
Will Dakota North Finally Come to TV?
The initial Dakota North comic series didn’t last very long, ending after only five issues in its first year. Despite this, the character appeared in other comics, including runs of Black Panther by Christopher Priest and Daredevil by Ed Brubaker. However, a live-action version of Dakota North hasn’t yet been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering the character’s traits and story, a TV show starring Dakota could feel like a follow-up to Jessica Jones.
Even though Jessica Jones finished its three-season run a few years ago, Krysten Ritter will be returning as the character. She’s joining the second season of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, which starts streaming on March 24th. It’s currently unclear how significant her role will be, and there’s no word yet on whether this means a Jessica Jones revival is planned.
Jacobs’ Invincible Season 4 premieres on Prime Video on Mar. 18, 2026.
