Ghosts Season 5 Will Finally Explain That One Confusing Plot Point

A fascinating tidbit from the fourth season of “Ghosts” receives an update from co-showrunner Joe Port. The supernatural comedy has been granted two extra episodes at CBS, implying that season 5 of “Ghosts” will have the opportunity to continue the plot where death is now pursuing Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar). However, there are still many questions left unanswered.

In my critique, I find myself pondering over Sass, portrayed by Román Zaragoza. Unlike most spirits in this series, his girlfriend, Joan (played brilliantly by Taylor Ortega), seems to move about with remarkable freedom, defying the established norms that spirits are typically bound to the locations of their demise.

According to a recent report from TVLine, showrunners and executive producers Joe Port hinted at a connection between Joan’s abilities and Pete (portrayed by Richie Moriarty). Intriguingly, there seems to be more insight about Joan’s powers on the horizon as shared by Port, who works alongside co-creator Joe Wiseman. Here’s what he had to say:

“We’ll be delving deeper into Joan’s powers soon.

Perhaps there’s a reason for that. After all, you’re familiar with Pete’s tale – he was a travel agent but never took any trips himself. So, it seems we might discover something about Joan’s background as well.

What This Means For Ghosts Season 5

We’ll See Joan Again

In three episodes of “Ghosts”, we see Joan, a talented screenwriter, make an appearance. Due to the time period she was in, she faced numerous challenges. However, she develops a strong bond with Sass, becoming one of his main interests. As Port suggests, Joan shares a unique ability with Pete – a spirit who, according to him, has the most remarkable power among all the Woodstone ghosts. Pete’s power allows him to move freely within certain boundaries.

Perhaps it’s possible that Joan shares similar conditions, given her extensive years as a spirit, she has honed her abilities. This scenario is reminiscent of the show “Ghosts“, where characters like Trevor (Asher Grodman) have learned to navigate the physical world more effectively following training and commitment. Regardless, the update ensures we’ll see more of Joan.

Our Take On Joan’s Ghosts Season 5 Return

It Points To Something Larger

In the finale of Ghosts season 4, Jay’s predicament as a marked individual needs resolution. However, the series will also delve into the longer-term relationships within the group, such as the durability of Sass and Joan’s bond. Unfortunately, an exact release date for Ghosts season 5 has yet to be announced, but it is slated for later this year.

At its core, the central conflict of the show is the question at hand. If these ghostly entities can find enough tranquility and contentment, they might eventually decide to move on. The series, Ghosts, has hinted at this idea occasionally but hasn’t fully explored it yet. It will be intriguing to see how the next two seasons develop this concept further.
