Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ghosts season 4, episode 19, “Pinkus Returns”
In episode 19 of season 4 for the TV show Ghosts on CBS, Trevor’s plot follows a typical pattern for the sitcom, but it also corrects an ongoing issue involving one ghost’s power misuse. The ghost characters in this comedy series are what truly shine, and their distinct supernatural abilities help set them apart. From Thor controlling electricity to Hetty gaining human visibility once a year, these powers keep the show feeling innovative.
In other words, while Alberta’s seemingly insignificant ghost power might not appear as impressive as Pete’s world-traveling ability or Sass’s dream-entering one, it turns out that the way a character uses their power is often more crucial than the power itself. This was particularly evident in season 4, episode 15, “The Bachelorette Party,” where Alberta cleverly utilized her bad odor to save her descendant’s engagement.
The Ghost’s Ability To Type Has Been More Of A Burden
Trevor’s Meddling Caused A Lot of Problems Earlier In Season 4
Just like how powerful abilities can sometimes turn into heavy responsibilities when misused, Trevor’s seemingly insignificant ghost powers have led him to live a surprisingly rich life as a ghost, including holding down a full-time job. For instance, his ability to move small objects enables him to type on phone screens and computers. However, much like Flower’s ‘Ghosts’ season 4 episode 18 hinted, Trevor often fails to fully utilize his extraordinary gifts.
During that outing, Trevor chose to use the income he got from work to bid on movie memorabilia on eBay rather than donating it to a worthy cause. Similarly, in season 4, episode 11 titled “Thorapy 2: Abandonment Issues,” Trevor stepped in when he believed Bela, Jay’s sister, had accidentally placed an order for just a pound of shrimp at his restaurant. However, it was later discovered that Bela had deliberately ordered only a pound to test Jay’s culinary skills, and Trevor’s intervention resulted in the ordering of 100 pounds of shrimp, which turned out to be an error.
Similarly to Trevor’s intervention during “The Bachelorette Party” by offering a bribe to a critic reviewing Jay’s restaurant for a better evaluation, his actions have paralleled that inconsiderate behavior in the fourth season of “Ghosts.” Despite Jay’s storylines in “Ghosts” becoming predictable, Trevor’s persistent misuse of his powers has been particularly exasperating. Historically, Trevor’s ghostly abilities have been as much a curse as they are a gift; this is not due to the power itself but rather how he continues to misapply it. However, episode 19 titled “Pinkus Returns” served as a refreshing change.

From a casual observation, it might seem like Trevor should quit using texting to interfere in people’s lives. But the story “Pinkus Returns” shows that things aren’t as simple as they seem. In fact, Trevor acted for good reasons in “Pinkus Returns,” compelling his old associate to tell his daughter that Trevor was her biological father. At first, Abby was upset and taken aback by this revelation, but she eventually made peace with Pinkus, all thanks to Trevor.
When Sam refused to reveal to Abby that Trevor was her true father, Trevor took charge and sent a text from Sam’s phone without telling him, but unfortunately, it went to Abby instead. It didn’t take long for her to figure out that Trevor was her dad. As the main character in ‘Ghosts’ season 4 shifted to Joan in the later episodes, this touching story revolved around Trevor. Feeling remorseful for his mistake, Trevor put together a slideshow of Abby’s favorite memories with her father to make amends.
Trevor’s Meddling In Ghosts Season 4, Episode 19 Is Justified
Trevor had Every Reason To Intervene In His Daughter’s Life
Due to Trevor’s interfering actions, Abby managed to make up with Pinkus and even discovered more about her late biological father, Trevor, from Sam. In contrast to his previous tales involving Bela’s command and Jay’s appraisal, Trevor’s meddling in “Pinkus Returns” was entirely justified. Rather than causing yet another unwanted calamity with his abilities, this time Trevor’s actions led to the most heartwarming story he had ever written.
Ghosts Actor | Character Name |
---|---|
Brandon Scott Jones | Isaac Higgintoot |
Roman Zaragoza | Sass |
Danielle Pinnock | Alberta |
Rebecca Wisocky | Hetty |
Richie Moriarty | Pete |
Asher Grodman | Trevor |

As a dedicated fan of “Ghosts,” I must admit that the introduction of Trevor’s daughter was one of the most heart-wrenching moments I’ve experienced. As a brooding stockbroker in the series, my longing to connect with Abby was palpable, yet I was painfully aware that our interactions would be confined. Compared to Sass’s heartbreaking love story in season 4 of “Ghosts,” this situation served as a stark reminder of the constraints that spirits face in their existence straddling life and the afterlife. Fortunately, Sam stepped in to bridge the gap between us, enabling Abby to meet her father in season 4, episode 19 of “Ghosts.
