The Ghost of Yotei, an upcoming open-world samurai game, has officially set its launch date for October 2, exclusively on PS5.
As a gamer eagerly anticipating the release of Ghost of Yotei, I was thrilled to learn more about its captivating plot from Sucker Punch’s latest blog post. The narrative revolves around me, the protagonist, seeking vengeance against the Yotei Six, a notorious gang of outlaws who brutally murdered my family. In a fateful encounter with these ruthless criminals, I was left for dead but miraculously survived. This band of villains, known as the Snake, the Oni, the Kitsune, the Spider, the Dragon, and their leader Lord Seito, will be my formidable adversaries throughout the game.
For the past 16 years, I have honed my fighting skills, preparing for this very moment. Armed with the same katana that once pinned me to a burning tree, I will journey across Ezo, seeking new allies and unleashing my wrath in pursuit of vengeance. The story of Ghost of Yotei promises an exhilarating adventure that I can’t wait to embark upon!
Sony unveiled different versions of the game that can be preordered as early as May 2nd. Each preorder will come with extra perks, such as an exclusive in-game mask for Atsu and a collection of seven PSN avatars showcasing concept art designs of Atsu and each character from The Yotei Six.
In the game, there will be two editions available: a standard $70 version and a $80 Ghost of Yotei Digital Deluxe Edition. The latter offers additional content such as a digital game download key, The Snake’s armor set, an alternate dye for your initial armor set, a distinctive horse color, a special saddle dye, an in-game charm, a golden sword kit, and early access to Traveler’s Maps. These maps can help you find statues scattered across Ezo, which can make it easier for you to improve your skills by upgrading them.
Although Sony hasn’t disclosed its price as of now, they have unveiled what comes with the Ghost of Yotei Collector’s Edition. This edition includes all the preorder bonuses and content from the Digital Deluxe Edition. On top of that, you’ll receive a resin replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask, identical to Jin’s mask from the Ghost of Tsushima Collector’s Edition. Moreover, the physical extras included in the box are as follows:
1. Resin replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask (similar to Jin’s mask from the Ghost of Tsushima Collector’s Edition)
2. Preorder bonuses
3. Content from the Digital Deluxe Edition
4. Additional physical extras (not specified)
- A replica of Atsu’s cotton sash, complete with the names of the Yotei Six are printed on it
- A replica of the twin wolves tsuba from Atsu’s katana
- A display stand for the tsuba
- A pouch of coins
- Instructions to play Zeni Hajiki
- A foldable papercraft ginkgo tree along with a wolf at its base
- A set of four art cards featuring the sash, the wolf, Atsu’s ghost mask, and the game’s key art
Although the release of Ghost of Yotei is still a ways off, Sony enthusiasts have something exciting to anticipate in the near future. The sequel to Death Stranding, titled “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” is set for launch on PlayStation 5 on June 26.
