It’s been a long time coming, but modding platform GGMods finally has an official launch date.
Our new mod portal, built with help from the community, will launch on April 13th! We’re celebrating with special events and prizes.
To celebrate its launch, GGMods is holding several community events. The main event is a Modathon with a $7,000 cash prize, plus $1,000 worth of games for everyone who participates.
Anyone can potentially win prizes, even if they don’t have a lot of experience making mods. Frequent users of GGMods could win game packages, Steam gift cards, and Discord Nitro subscriptions.
Refer a friend and you’ll get an extra chance to win a Steam gift card! We’ll share more details about the giveaway as we get closer to the launch date.
GGMods Aims to Democratize Modding

Modding—creating fan-made improvements for video games—has been around almost as long as gaming itself. Despite all the effort modders put in—often hundreds or even thousands of hours—they typically only receive appreciation, while the websites hosting their work profit from ads displayed alongside the mods.
GGMods lets creators earn money directly from how people enjoy their work. This gives them a clear reason to create high-quality content, without the hassle of managing donations or subscriptions.
Okay, so the coolest part for me is definitely the Modathon kicking things off. They’re giving away a whopping $7,000 in cash prizes, and on top of that, another $1,000 in games! It’s a great chance to show off your skills and potentially win some awesome stuff.
To get things started, creators interested in joining GGMods can apply for the Founding Modders program. Those accepted will not only get a sneak peek at upcoming features, but may also receive funding to help them share their creations on the platform.
Ultimately, the future of the site will be shaped by what users want and what they tell us. We want to ensure modders aren’t stuck using platforms that ignore their feedback simply because they have no other options.
GGMods is kicking off its community with a Modathon! We’ll share more details about the event later this week.
