Getting a little tired of cat protagonists in Stray and Little Kitty Big City? This game introduces a new fearless animal ready to win our hearts

Independent developers continuously surprise us with outlandish concepts. They either venture into uncharted territories by blending and modifying traditional templates for a novel outcome, or reinvigorate classic games with contemporary updates. At times, they opt for that straightforward, lighthearted adventure game starring an animal character. This reminds me of my recent Steam find – one I felt compelled to explore after glancing at the screenshots.

Boar to be wild

In the rugged wilderness, you take on the role of a determined boar in search of your mysteriously vanished companions. Naturally, there’s some mischief involved as we journey through. Your mission requires strength, intelligence, and quick thinking to extract them from various absurd, peculiar, and even hazardous predicaments. Just like any genuine wild pig, you’re swift, resilient, a little headstrong, and unyielding in your pursuit of saving your hairy comrades!

I sincerely wish my absent friends can persevere as I test the limits of my strength on every fragile item around me. By the way, that pineapple-shaped headgear is not the only fashionable choice; we have numerous hat styles to choose from here. Interestingly, these hats influence our body temperature significantly – hence, it’s crucial to find suitable protection for the cold winter environment. A funky, warm beanie should help us avoid freezing like a popsicle!

Concerning mushrooms, this place has a variety of edibles to forage. I just pray we don’t bump into Mushroom Season gamers. If things get tough, guess what? The gourmet leftovers in the garbage are always there, making my top picks!

As a fan, I’m always game for stories featuring animal leads – from the whimsical insects of FlyKnight, to the powerful felines in Samurai Pizza Cats, and the cunning fox in Endling. What took me by surprise was the sheer exhilaration I feel at the prospect of rooting around in soil as a boar!
