Get Ready: New Invincible Comic Featuring Battle Beast Drops May 2025!

In May 2025, Robert Kirkman is once again collaborating with Ryan Ottley on a fresh Invincible comic series. The storyline will revolve around a character who’s due to make a comeback when Season 4 begins.

Prior to the debut of their TV series on Amazon Prime Video, Kirkman and Ottley collaborated on a total of 144 issues of Invincible, along with various spin-offs such as Tech Jacket, Brit, and another version of the Guardians of the Globe.

The original Invincible comic series has come to an end, so you won’t be seeing Issue #145 any time soon. But don’t worry, we’re not saying goodbye for good! A fresh comic is on its way, focusing on the untold story of Battle Beast in a new and unexplored setting.

As the final moments of Season 3 drew to a close, Battle Beast was rescued by a spaceship following his fierce battle with a Viltrumite. Should the series adhere to the comics, there will be further developments – but what transpired with him after Season 1 remains unclear.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast comic launches in May 2025

On the 14th of May, 2025, I’ll be diving back into the action with the debut of Invincible Universe: Battle Beast! This comic will pick up where things left off between issues 19 and 55, revealing what transpired for our character during his time in the Viltrumite prison. I can hardly wait!

“What can I say? I just can’t get enough of the Invincible Universe!” Kirkman said in a statement.

Transitioning from the comic books straight into the animated show has meant no real downtime for me. Despite this continuous workflow, I’ve found myself eagerly yearning for fresh creative opportunities!

EXCITING UPDATE FROM THE COMICS WORLD:

The first issue of the INVINCIBLE Universe series, Battle Beast #1, co-created by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley, has surpassed sales of almost 400,000 copies through Skybound and Image Comics!

For longtime followers, it’s worth noting that Battle Beast has been absent from the series between Issue #19 and Issue #55. There’s a rich narrative to explore during this period, and I’m absolutely delighted to have Ryan Ottley, Battle Beast’s co-creator, joining me in bringing this untold story to life!

Ottley further added: “When Robert and I initially developed Battle Beast in Invincible Issue #19 as a means to expand Invincible’s rogues gallery, I wasn’t certain if he would turn out to be a significant character with recurring roles or one who would meet an immediate grisly end.

Robert consistently kept me and our readers guessing, as he could orchestrate a death at any instant, and I’d eagerly anticipate bringing his visual concepts to life! Thankfully, Battle Beast resonated with fans and survived to expand its narrative! It’s thrilling to collaborate with Robert once more within the Invincible Universe.

Previously, I expressed my uncertainty about which project to tackle next. When he proposed a collaboration on a Battle Beast series, it sparked excitement within me as it meant returning to a creator-led comic and further expanding the Invincible Universe! I’m thrilled to be working with Image Comics and Skybound once more, and I can hardly wait for you to witness the narrative we are shaping in this new series. It’s been quite some time since I’ve had as much fun as I am now, reminiscent of my days on Invincible!
