In Season 16 of Overwatch 2, the brand-new Stadium mode will be introduced. However, quick-thinking players have a chance to test it out ahead of schedule.
In simple terms, the Season 15 update was significant for Overwatch, as it launched a brand-new Perks system and reintroduced loot boxes. Similarly, we can expect Season 16 to be equally exciting with the introduction of the new hero Freja and the long-awaited addition of hero bans in Competitive mode, which has been a popular request among players.
However, it’s worth noting that Stadium, the fresh gameplay mode introduced at the Spotlight event, is anticipated to be a significant addition, with Blizzard aiming for it to join the other three fundamental modes. In this mode, players engage in best-of-seven contests consisting of short rounds. Between each round, they use their currency to unlock additional buffs and abilities.
If you’re eagerly anticipating the release of Stadium, there’s a chance for you to start playing it ahead of schedule! Here’s all the essential information you’ll require.
Stadium Playtest explained
As a gamer eagerly anticipating Stadium, I’d hop onto the Overwatch Discord server and fill out the participation form to throw my hat in the ring for the early access. Being part of this process doesn’t automatically mean I’ll make it into the closed alpha, but it puts me in contention for a spot.
It’s important to mention that the initial test is exclusive to Battlenet players residing in North America for now. Regrettably, those living outside of North America or using PlayStation or Xbox platforms won’t be eligible to participate at this moment. Additionally, participants must be at least 18 years old, so do remember this before attempting to join.
Here’s an opportunity for developers to get constructive input from the community about Stadium, prior to its official launch in Season 16.
Stadium closed alpha dates
If chosen for the Stadium’s closed alpha test group, the testing periods will span from February 25th to March 11th. The sessions are scheduled on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and they run from 6 PM to 9 PM Pacific Time, ensuring ample chances for you to experience the mode.
Outside of these days and times, the alpha will be offline and you won’t be able to access it.
