German teen steals bus to drive girlfriend to school 80 miles away

A teenager in Germany, age 15, is in trouble with the law after taking a bus without permission. He drove 80 miles just to give his girlfriend a ride to school.

A teenager in Wiesbaden, Germany, allegedly broke into a bus depot on March 13th and stole a bus. They somehow got their hands on a master key to start the vehicle and drive away.

A teenager reportedly took a bus for a joyride, leaving from the depot early in the morning after it had been refueled. At first, staff thought a driver had mistakenly taken the wrong bus, but when the vehicle wasn’t returned by noon, they called the police.

The teenager drove a long distance – about 80 miles or 130 kilometers – to get his girlfriend.

The authorities eventually located the bus in Karlsruhe and found the teen in the driver’s seat.

He was driving his 14-year-old girlfriend to school, according to reports.

Surprisingly, the teenager wasn’t licensed to drive, which confused the police as much as how he’d managed to obtain the master key.

Police are still investigating how the suspect got the key and why they were such a skilled bus driver, according to a spokesperson.

The bus made it back to the depot safely, with no damage and no one hurt. However, the teenager involved is now facing charges for stealing the bus and driving without a license.

Last year, there were a few surprising news stories about stolen buses. One incident in Canada involved a thief who not only stole a bus, but continued to let passengers ride and exit as usual.

A man in Ireland recently took a bus for a 150-mile ride to Dublin when his original transportation was overcrowded.
