As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for family-friendly films and a soft spot for magical creatures, I must say that the announcement of “School of Magical Animals 3″ and its subsequent deals has me absolutely enchanted! Having witnessed the success of the first two installments in the series, I eagerly await the continuation of this captivating tale.

Epsilon Film unveiled initial presale agreements for the family movie “School of Magical Animals 3,” which is the latest addition in the successful franchise ruling the German box office. The sales agency has also acquired global distribution rights for the recently filmed “School of Magical Animals 4.

In summary, the presale agreements for the third installment have been finalized by Epsilon for various territories: Scandinavia (Another World Entertainment), Hungary (ADS), Poland (Nowe Horyzonty), CIS (Voxell), Baltics (GPI), Israel (Red Cape Distribution), Ex-Yugoslavia (Karantanija Cinemas), and Bulgaria (Pro Films). Additionally, the worldwide airline rights have been acquired by Eagle International.

In its debut weekend, “School of Magical Animals 3” garnered approximately $4.2 million at German box offices, courtesy of Leonine’s release on September 26. This places it ninth globally in box office earnings. By October 19, the film had accumulated a total of $16.4 million. Remarkably, it has maintained its position as number one in Germany for four consecutive weeks since its release.

Together, the initial pair of movies earned more than 36.5 million dollars in Germany’s box office and were distributed across more than a hundred nations worldwide, among them being the United States, where they were distributed by Blue Fox.

The third installment of ‘School of Magical Animals,’ a joint production between Kordes & Kordes Film Süd, Leonine, and Lightburst Pictures, is helmed by director Sven Unterwaldt, known for his work on ‘The 7th Dwarf’ and ‘Help, I Shrunk My Teacher.’

The franchise is derived from Margit Auer’s popular series of books, which have been sold worldwide in 26 countries. The movies take place in an extraordinary school called Winterstein, where students are given a mystical pet animal as a companion. Real-life children and digitally animated animals are blended together in the filming process.

Epsilon has agreed to the contract for “School of Magical Animals 4” with producers Kordes & Kordes Film Süd. This movie is scheduled to premiere in Germany on October 2, 2025, and will be distributed by Leonine, who is also contributing as a co-producer.

In the fourth movie, titled “Winterstein’s New Enchantment,” directed by Bernhard Jasper and Maggie Peren, we follow a fresh magical journey. Ida’s friend Miriam joins the school for a three-month stint, but an unexpected secret could strain their friendship. Miriam is tasked with caring for the tarsier named Fitzgeraldo, while Max receives the owl Muriel, who he holds a deep affection for. The impending sale of the school looms, potentially jeopardizing its magical community’s future. Could the upcoming challenge at the school be the key to their salvation?
