Gerald McRaney has just joined the cast of the upcoming Hulu limited series focusing on the Murdaugh family, according to our exclusive information from EbMaster.
Originally unveiled actors include Jason Clarke, Patricia Arquette, J. Smith-Cameron, Johnny Berchtold, Will Harrison, Brittany Snow, Noah Emmerich, Kathleen Wilhoite, and Tommy Dewey. The series is inspired by the real events surrounding Maggie and Alex Murdaugh, as well as the journalistic work of Mandy Matney, who produced the “Murdaugh Murders” podcast. Clarke portrays Alex, while Arquette plays Maggie. Snow’s role is Matney.
For several years in South Carolina’s Lowcountry region, the Murdaugh family held significant power, using their legal and political clout extensively. However, over the past decade, they’ve faced allegations of wrongdoing, from financial fraud to murder. Beyond the “Murdaugh Murders” podcast, they’ve been the focus of numerous documentaries and news specials.
The Murdaugh family were very influential in South Carolina for a long time, but for around ten years, people have accused them of all sorts of crimes, from financial scams to murders. They’ve been talked about in many podcasts, documentaries, and news programs.
McRaney is set to portray Randolph Murdaugh, who is known as the “Lion of the Lowcountry.” This character represents a quintessential Southern Good Ol’ Boy and serves as the powerful matriarch of the Murdaugh family. Similar to his father and grandfather, Randolph has held the position of Solicitor for almost three decades while also overseeing the family’s prosperous firm. Throughout the years, he has skillfully maneuvered through any challenges faced by his kin; however, the current predicament might be too great even for his formidable influence.
McRaney was nominated twice for the Emmy Award for Best Guest Actor in a Drama, which he won in 2017 for the popular NBC show “This Is Us.” His latest television appearances include roles on Hulu’s “Paradise,” CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and Netflix’s “House of Cards.” Additionally, he is recognized for his work in series such as “Deadwood,” “Simon & Simon,” and “Major Dad.
He is repped by Artists & Representatives.
