2024’s novel “Georgie, All Along” is being developed into a movie by Daryl Steiger’s recently established romantic film production company, A Cup of Happy Productions.
In the book “Georgie, All Along” by popular writer Kate Clayborn, we follow Georgie Mulcahy, a dedicated personal assistant who has built her career on selflessness towards others.
she has never clearly defined her own desires and aspirations. However, when Georgie rediscovers a long-forgotten artifact – a ‘friendfic’ diary she wrote as a teenager, brimming with dreams and possibilities – it becomes a vital source of inspiration for Georgie. To a overwhelmed Georgie, the diary’s straightforward, small-scale suggestions serve as a roadmap for embarking on a fresh journey.
The award-winning romance novel ‘Georgie, All Along,’ which won the 2024 Libby Book Awards, will be transformed for the big screen by Sawyer Perry. Known for his work with Warner Bros. and Disney, as well as projects in the 2020 Sundance Producer Lab, Perry is set to adapt this novel. Allison Friedman, a former executive at Color Force who has worked on productions like ‘The Mortuary Collection,’ ‘The Martian,’ and ‘Crazy Rich Asians,’ will produce.
Established by veteran entertainment lawyer Steiger, A Cup of Happy Productions is a production company primarily run by women, dedicated to producing romantic films and TV shows that resonate with and cater to female viewers.
The newly established production firm is actively looking to collaborate mainly with well-known romance writers, and it’s currently engaged in discussions to acquire the rights for two more popular romance novels.
