George Clooney Says Biden Is ‘Most Selfless’ President Since George Washington for Dropping Out of Presidential Race Against Trump: ‘All the Credit Goes to Him’

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with decades of movie-going experience under my belt, I must say that George Clooney continues to impress me with his ability to balance high-profile projects with social commentary. His recent statements about President Biden and the release of “Wolfs” demonstrate a thoughtful perspective that goes beyond the silver screen.

For the initial occasion, George Clooney has voiced his thoughts regarding his article in The New York Times that called upon Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential campaign.

At the Venice press conference for his latest movie, “The Wolves”, Clooney admitted he hadn’t encountered this specific question before, so he decided to address it there.

“The individual deserving of applause is the president, who has performed an exceptionally unselfish act, one not seen in a president since George Washington,” he stated. He further noted that it’s significant to recall this unselfish deed, as it takes great courage for someone to relinquish power – something we’ve observed throughout history. When someone steps forward, suggesting there might be a superior course of action, all praise is due to him. This statement truly reflects the situation… I’m simply very proud of where our world stands at this moment.”

In other discussions regarding Apple shifting the movie’s release from a broad cinematic debut to a narrow one, Clooney too mentioned an article from The New York Times published recently by Nicole Sterling, which disclosed that he and Pitt each received over $35 million in compensation.

He stated that it was significantly fewer, far more than just a few million dollars, less than the amount initially reported. In my opinion, it’s detrimental for our sector if such inflated figures become the norm.

Speaking about the modification in the schedule, he added: “There’ll be some ups and downs as we navigate through this, undeniably disappointing, but numerous individuals will eventually get to watch the movie.”

Directed by Jon Watts, who was behind the camera for “Spider-Man”, this action-comedy on Apple Original Films features Brad Pitt and George Clooney as independent problem solvers. However, they are forced to team up when they both land the same job assignment. The movie also stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Poorna Jagannathan. It was announced earlier this month that a sequel is already in the works, with Watts and the two main actors set to return.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney are teaming up for their first joint lead role in a film since their collaboration on the Coen Brothers’ 2008 black comedy “Burn After Reading.” Before that, they both starred together in the “Ocean’s” series from 2001 to 2007. Notably, Pitt and Clooney have previously appeared at the Venice Film Festival separately: Clooney attended for Grant Heslov’s “The Men Who Stare at Goats” in 2009, while Pitt premiered David Fincher’s “Fight Club” in 1999 and won the Volpi Cup for best actor with Andrew Dominik’s “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” in 2007. In a new development, this marks Rachel Watts’ debut premiering a film at Venice.

Following its debut at Venice, the movie “Wolfs” is set to hit cinemas for a brief run from September 20th, after which it will become available on Apple TV+ from September 27th.
