The start of Gen V Season 2 includes a touching tribute to Chance Perdomo, the actor who played Andre. The show goes beyond a simple message, offering a more significant way to remember him.
The 27-year-old actor died in a motorcycle crash in March 2024 while on his way to Toronto to start filming the next season of the show based on The Boys.
I was really saddened to hear about Chance Perdomo’s passing. The team behind *Gen V* shared a message saying they’re committed to honoring his memory in the best way possible. And they’ve made the decision not to recast his role, which I totally understand – no one could ever fill his shoes like he did.
They explained they’re reworking the storylines for Season 2 and are giving the character Andre a meaningful and heroic conclusion in the first three episodes.
What happens to Andre Anderson in Gen V?
In Season 2 of Gen V, Andre Anderson dies while trying to help his friends break out of the Elmira Rehabilitation Center. His death happens off-screen.
Season two begins by hinting at what happened to Andre, though details are unclear. We learn Marie escaped, but unfortunately left Andre, Jordan, and Emma to fend for themselves. Andre believed her escape meant there was a path to freedom, but they soon discovered that escape route had been blocked.
Andre desperately tried to escape by forcing open a large steel door. However, the effort of using his powers – a condition he shared with his father, Polarity – caused him to suffer a fatal stroke.
I’m really touched by how Gen V Season 2 is paying tribute to Chance Perdomo (Andre Anderson), even just after one episode. They’ve created a deeply moving backstory for his character that feels inspired by who he was as a person. It’s incredibly emotional and actually made me cry.

In an interview with EW, Gen V showrunner Michele Fazekas explained that a key focus during the show’s creation – even back in the writers’ room and during the trailer production – was to pay tribute to a particular person.
The character appears throughout the whole season, and the show really focused on both Andre and Chance. I’m actually very proud of how that turned out.
Throughout the second season, Andre’s death is revisited in moving and surprising ways. Marie, played by Jaz Sinclair, hopes he will be remembered as a hero and continue to impact the story, as she told Parade.
I thought it was fantastic. The writers did a great job of incorporating the story and honoring it well. It’s challenging to accurately portray a real person like Chance, and even harder to truly capture the depth of love and care someone feels for another.
Playing Polarity in Season 2 was a really cool experience. Honestly, while I was acting in every scene, it felt like Chance was right there with me, like we were actually sharing the space. It really helped me get into the character and connect with the story.
