Gemma Chan has been added as a main cast member in the “The Five-Star Weekend” TV show on Peacock, according to our latest information.
In this upcoming series, Chan joins Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, and Chloë Sevigny as fellow cast members. The show’s storyline is adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s book with the same title.
The official description for the series states:
Title character Hollis Shaw (Garner), a well-known food influencer, cherished for her scrumptious dishes, impeccable palate, and friendly personality, experiences an overwhelming tragedy. Struggling to advance, this event begins to uncover the fissures in Hollis’s seemingly idyllic existence—her strained marriage, her intricate bond with her daughter, and her escalating desire for validation from her followers. In a bid to conquer grief and rediscover herself, Hollis comes up with the idea of hosting a weekend retreat at her Nantucket residence, inviting three friends from distinct periods in her life: one from childhood, another from her twenties, a third from her thirties, and an unexpected fifth guest. The narrative unfolds amidst opulence and coastal beauty, leading these women on a journey of personal growth as they confront boundaries and unveil secrets that will reshape their relationships in ways they could never have imagined.
Chan will play the role of Gigi Ling.
Chan is recognized for her performances in various television shows such as “Humans” on Channel 4, “Watership Down,” and “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.” In cinema, she played Astrid Young Teo in “Crazy Rich Asians,” and has also appeared in films like “Mary Queen of Scots” and the Marvel productions “Captain Marvel” and “Eternals.
She is repped by Independent, WME and M88.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I, Bekah Brunstetter, am serving as the creator, writer, and executive producer for the upcoming film “The Five-Star Weekend.” Beth Schacter is also writing and serving as an executive producer on this project. The talented Laurence Fishburne will not only star but also serve as an executive producer. Sue Naegle and Ali Krug, under Dinner Party Productions, are also executive producing, along with another executive producer, yet to be named. UCP is the studio behind this production, and Dinner Party is currently under an overall deal with UCP. I can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve got in store!
