Gebeka International, Le Pacte Board Xilam Films’ Family Adventure ‘Lucy Lost’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a lifelong animation enthusiast, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming family feature “Lucy Lost.” Having grown up with classics like “War Horse” and more recent gems such as “The Little Prince” and “Klaus,” I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement seeing this project come to life.

The animation-focused company, Gebeka International, has joined forces with Xilam Films for the release of their upcoming family film titled “Lucy Lost.” Meanwhile, Le Pacte and Canal+ have secured the rights for distribution within France and pay television broadcasts.

The trio of fresh partners will collaborate on kickstarting an enchanting seashore story, jointly penned and orchestrated by seasoned animator Olivier Clert and based on the 2014 novel “Listen to the Moon,” written by Michael Morpurgo, renowned for his work in “War Horse.” The production process has commenced at Xilam’s animation studio based in France, in preparation for a scheduled completion date in March 2026.

Director Olivier Clert, who has worked extensively with Mark Osborne (“The Little Prince,” “Escape from Hat”) and Sergio Pablos (“Smallfoot,” “Klaus”), is set to make his feature directorial debut on this upcoming project. Co-written by BAFTA-winning Helen Blakeman, the film will be produced by Marc du Pontavice and Lucie Bolze of Xilam Animation.

The movie is set on the Isles of Scilly, located near the Cornish coast. It tells the story of Lucy, a young girl brought up by a group of fishermen who aren’t her real family. She has few memories of her past and as a devastating war unfolds in the distance, a surprising meeting with another girl close to her age helps Lucy reconstruct her personal history and gain a clearer perspective on her role in life.

Marc du Pontavice, Xilam CEO, commented that ‘Listen to the Moon’ by Michael Morpurgo is an enchanting novel. It skillfully combines themes of family, love, and memory with beautiful settings, which Olivier and Helen have brilliantly brought to life in our impressive adaptation.

Embarking on the creation of an emotionally powerful and visually captivating tale about resilience, we’re fortunate to have Gebeka International, Le Pacte, and Canal+ as our trusted partners for this grand journey. Our protagonist, Lucy, is a character who embodies fragility yet courage; she promises to touch the hearts of viewers. We aspire that this film will ignite a longing in people to reach out to one another, foster understanding towards each other’s differences with compassion, and find the strength to confront challenges together.

‘Lucy Lost’ is an extraordinary voyage through time and the cosmos that explores universal concepts like self-discovery and camaraderie,” stated Vincent Maraval, who, along with French media group Hildegarde, jointly manages Goodfellas Sales Company and Gebeka International. “We are incredibly proud to be a part of this heartwarming endeavor, which we believe will resonate deeply. The grandness of Lucy’s journey is certain to captivate audiences worldwide, catering to both children and adults.
