For approximately two decades, the Gears of War series has predominantly been available only on Xbox consoles and personal computers. However, this summer marks a shift in exclusivity with Gears of War: Reloaded, which is the second remastered version of the game from 2006. A fresh trailer for Reloaded was unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase, offering PlayStation 5 players a sneak peek at what they haven’t experienced before.
The action unfolds on a planet called Sera, which was once populated by humans but has seen them dwindle due to an underground faction known as the Locust, who resurfaced 14 years ago. In this game, you’ll take control of Marcus Fenix and his Delta Squad comrades, striving to turn the tide of war in favor of humanity and reclaim Sera as our home.
As per Microsoft’s announcement, the revamped edition will offer 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, along with multiplayer functionality. It also boasts cross-platform compatibility for both play and production across all available systems. Notably, those who already own the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition are eligible to claim the updated version, Reloaded, without any additional cost.
The upcoming title in the Gears of War series, titled “Gears Of War: E-Day,” is a prequel set during Emergence Day, and it will be voiced by the original actors portraying Marcus and Dom. At this point, it has only been confirmed for play on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms, but a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
On August 26, you can expect the revamped version of Gears of War: Reloaded to become available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. Additionally, if you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, you’ll get access to it starting from day one!
