Gears of War: Reloaded release date & everything we know

Apart from refreshing the initial Gears of War game, Gears of War: Reloaded introduces the series on PlayStation platforms for the very first time.

Until Gears of War: E-Day, a precursor to the initial game, releases in 2026, we have Gears of War: Reloaded to keep us entertained until then. This complete remaster comes packed with a co-op campaign and multiplayer modes, making it an exceptional way to experience the thrilling sci-fi shooter.

Gears of War: Reloaded release date & price

On August 26, 2025, the game “Gears of War: Reloaded” is set to launch, priced at $39.99 USD or £34.99 GBP. There won’t be any early access available, so everyone will be able to play the game simultaneously, without anyone getting an advantage before others.

Platforms

The game will be playable on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers via Steam and the Xbox app. For the first time in its history, the Gears of War series is making its way onto PlayStation systems, following Microsoft’s strategy of expanding the distribution of their games across multiple platforms.

How to play the beta

The beta version of Gears of War: Remastered spans over two weekends, specifically from June 13th to 15th, and June 20th to 22nd. You can gain access to it in any of these three methods:

1. Pre-ordering the game at a participating retailer.
2. Owning a digital copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live.
3. Being an active Xbox Live Gold member with an Epic account.

Is it on Xbox Game Pass?

Absolutely! The action-packed game, Gears of War: Reloaded, makes its debut on Xbox Game Pass simultaneously. This means it’s accessible for both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers right away.

Co-op & multiplayer explained

If you’re looking forward to spending some fun time with your buddies, you could opt for the cooperative campaign or the competitive multiplayer option instead.

In this setup, you can experience the primary narrative alongside a companion by choosing either local split-screen gaming or online cooperation in the two-player cooperative campaign. Alternatively, if you’re up for some friendly competition, the Versus mode offers player versus player action.

In this game, there are eight players who compete against each other in a multiplayer setting. The game offers several modes like Team Deathmatch, where teams fight to eliminate each other; King of the Hill, where players struggle for control over specific areas on the map; Gold Rush, a mode focusing on capturing and defending gold deposits; and Warzone, which is not related to battle royale.

Does it have crossplay?

Absolutely! It offers crossplay and cross-progression, meaning that regardless of the gaming platform your buddies choose, you can join forces in the competitive multiplayer mode known as Versus or the cooperative two-player campaign.

You can also disable crossplay if you prefer to stick to playing with those on your platform.

Gears of War: Reloaded editions

There are only two Gears of War: Reloaded editions: Standard and the pre-order edition.

By pre-purchasing the game, you’ll gain entry to the June beta weekends, plus receive special character skins for Adam Fenix and Civilian Anya. If you’re a Game Pass subscriber, you’ll enjoy these pre-order bonuses as well.
