The release date for Gears of War: E-Day is still some time away, but here’s something to look forward to – the original game from the series is getting a re-release soon in an enhanced edition! And guess what? It will only cost you $40! Plus, this upgraded version won’t be exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X|S. PS5 users can also join in on the fun when it launches on August 26. So, gear up for a trip down memory lane!
In essence, only PlayStation 5 users can acquire a physical copy of Gears of War: Reloaded. It’s worth noting that this isn’t exclusive to Gears; Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 also won’t have physical standard editions on Xbox, but they do offer boxed Deluxe and Premium Editions with download codes instead. As for Xbox, its growing emphasis on Game Pass and the “Play Anywhere” concept appears to have resulted in the elimination of physical editions from the initial release lineup for many, if not most, of its first-party games.
Gears of War: Reloaded Preorder Bonuses
In Gears of War: Reloaded, both physical and digital pre-orders offer two exclusive multiplayer character skins – one for Adam Fenix, the father of Marcus Fenix, and another for Delta Squad member Anya Stroud. Players who access the game through Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass will also receive these bonuses.
Individuals who choose to pre-order the digital version, sign up for Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, or already own Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, will have the opportunity to participate in the multiplayer beta from June 13-15 and June 20-22. However, it’s important to note that the physical edition for PS5 does not offer beta access as a preorder bonus.
If you’ve been a PlayStation enthusiast and haven’t yet experienced the Gears of War series, you’re in for an exciting adventure! Released in 2006, Gears of War revolutionized the third-person shooter genre. Although it wasn’t the first game to employ cover-based combat, it significantly contributed to making this mechanic a staple in the third-person shooter sub-genre.
Apart from its success, the game was highly praised for its compelling narrative style and exceptional acting talent. The experience resembled a blockbuster war film with a science fiction twist that was quite dramatic. It eventually grew to become one of the most popular franchises on Xbox 360, leading to many sequels and related productions.
Pass the time by reading the Gears of War novels
After its initial release, the Gears of War franchise branched out into various formats, one of which was literature. Between 2008 and 2021, a total of eight novels set within the Gears of War universe were published. These books were generally well-liked by fans and serve as strong illustrations of how video game series can be adapted into successful novels. The novels were penned by various writers, including Karen Traviss, Jason Hough, and Michael Stackpole.
The books continue the narratives from the game series while also introducing fresh tales. On the world of Sera, Gears of War recounts humanity’s struggle against an underground species called the Locust Horde. This planet serves as the backdrop for a rich and intricate story that delves into the violent past of mankind, the quest for renewable energy sources, and the conflicts known as the Pendulum Wars between COG and UIF. The lore surrounding these events is extensive and captivating.
Most of the narratives primarily focus on the perspective of Marcus Fenix, an iconic soldier with a troubled history involving the COG high command, and his companions, as they fight their way through the land of Sera.
