Gaumont Promotes Alexis Cassanet as EVP of International Distribution and Co-Productions

Gaumont elevated Alexis Cassanet to the role of Executive Vice President for Global Distribution and Co-Productions.

Most recently, Cassanet held the position of Executive Vice President for international sales and distribution. He played a crucial part in obtaining funding for two significant film projects: “High in the Clouds,” a collaborative animation film co-produced by Paul McCartney, based on his own book, and “The Wizard of the Kremlin,” directed by Olivier Assayas, which is currently in its final stages of production, boasting an impressive cast that includes Paul Dano, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander, Tom Sturridge, and Jeffrey Wright.

In his fresh role, he’ll play a crucial part in fostering projects with significant global reach, discover new avenues for international funding, and actively participate in establishing joint productions. He will collaborate intimately with Gaumont’s overseas branches on films destined for worldwide viewers.

In his new job, he will help grow projects that have a strong global outlook, find new financing opportunities from around the world, and be heavily involved in organizing co-productions. He will work hand in hand with Gaumont’s international affiliates on movies designed for global audiences.

Cassanet will additionally manage the global sales of fresh creations and remake permits, working closely with Adeline Falampin, who heads international sales.

Ariane Toscan du Plantier, Gaumont’s head of French and international distribution and Vice President of the Cesar Academie, commented that Alexis’s new role within the company is a logical acknowledgement of his years of dedication, strategic thinking, and specialized knowledge he has contributed to Gaumont.

Toscan du Plantier explained that by taking on the task of managing international co-productions, he’s not only involved in the early stages of project creation but also leveraging his extensive understanding of global markets and expertise in devising practical yet visionary funding plans.

Gaumont, which is celebrating this year its 130-year anniversary, is run by CEO Sidonie Dumas.
