GameStop’s “Trade Anything Day” Included Dead Animals And Can Of Whoop-Ass

On December 6th, GameStop held its annual “Trade Anything Day,” and customers brought in a wide variety of items to exchange for cash. The company reported over 80,000 trades nationwide that day, including some surprisingly unusual things like a stuffed bobcat and goose, a speed limit sign, an old Wii Netflix disc, a bowling ball, a small religious figurine, and even something labeled as “a literal can of whoop-ass.”

This was a marketing effort designed to highlight GameStop’s trade-in program. The company also reported receiving a large amount of canned food donations for local food banks and animal shelters.

Someone jokingly tried to return a dog to GameStop, but they wouldn’t take it. Another customer attempted to trade in their Social Security card, which was also refused. Surprisingly, GameStop did accept a copy of the Declaration of Independence that someone brought in.

The rules for the Trade Anything event stated that each person could only trade one item, and that item had to be worth $5 or less. It’s currently unknown what GameStop plans to do with all the traded items.
