Games Industry Could Be Worth $300 Billion In 4 Years, Report Suggests

According to experts at the PwC network, the video game sector is expected to drive significant expansion within the larger entertainment and media field over the coming years. They have labeled gaming as a shining example or bright spot amidst uncertain economic conditions.

According to a PwC report, the video game industry, which generated approximately $224 billion in 2024, is projected to expand to almost $300 billion by 2029. Unlike other digital entertainment sectors that are struggling, such as streaming media facing reduced consumer spending due to market saturation, the video game industry seems less vulnerable to economic pressures.

Besides PwC, other analyst firms also predict significant growth in the gaming industry over the next few years. A recent report indicates that approximately half of the world’s population – around 4 billion people – could be classified as gamers by the year 2028. Industry experts place a great deal of emphasis on upcoming releases such as the Switch 2 and GTA 6, with the latter’s postponement until 2026 raising some doubts about the industry’s immediate performance.
