Gamers Believe Bethesda Is Already Developing Second Starfield DLC. We May Have Learned Its Title

As a die-hard fan who has been following the Starfield saga since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and skepticism regarding the latest news about the Starborn DLC. On one hand, the idea of delving deeper into the lore of the Starborns, those enigmatic beings who can traverse universes, is tantalizingly intriguing. On the other, the history of Bethesda’s delays and the underwhelming reception of Starfield has left me a tad wary.

In September, it’ll be a year since the debut of Starfield by Bethesda. Though it’s garnered a dedicated fanbase, the general gaming community seems less enthused about their science fiction offering. The stiff competition from Baldur’s Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion pack has made Starfield, developed by the creators of the new Fallout and Elder Scrolls series, seem somewhat lackluster compared to expectations.

There’s definitely a group of enthusiasts looking forward to the upcoming DLC, and it was earlier revealed that the initial expansion will be called “Shattered Space“. It seems these gamers might have recently learned that the developers are already busy crafting the next expansion as well.

Bethesda reserves the rights to Starborn

One of the X users pointed out to the gaming community that a new application to the Starborn trademark appeared on the Justia Trademarks website. However, nowhere in the entire document is the name Bethesda Softworks mentioned. So, why do players believe it’s about Starfield?

To find the relevant information, it is best to focus on the company associated with the app, in this case, ZeniMax, which is the parent company of Bethesda. However, it’s important to note that ZeniMax isn’t just a game developer; the application description also indicates that the reserved goods encompass video games, software programs, and related items such as toys or packaging.

The name isn’t just coincidental; the Starborns play a crucial role in the storyline of Starfield, possessing a unique ability to traverse different universes through Artifacts. These characters can be encountered and even battled within the game.

Are the players sure about the DLC?

Enthusiasm and skepticism coexist among players regarding the news, despite indications strongly suggesting that “Starborn” might indeed be the title for the second DLC. On the dedicated Starfield subreddit, fans aren’t too surprised by this decision, as they note there’s been limited content related to “Starborn“.

Not very surprising. Besides general lore the Starborn content is pretty lacking. (…)

Anticipating it might be just a Starborn content pack with enhanced ship and armor, I was still hopeful for something more substantial. However, if an entire expansion is on the horizon, I’m all for it!

This is awesome. They clearly have more stuff they’re holding back with Starborn lore.

In the game, you’ll find numerous pieces of furniture originating from Starborn. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the temples and their creators require further explanation as well.

Can’t wait for this.

As a dedicated fan, I ponder if the reserved name could be just a part of Starfield merchandise or additional content for the game, rather than an upcoming DLC.

It’s possible that Bethesda will verify this information shortly. In the meantime, enthusiasts of Starfield are left with little option but to patiently anticipate the launch of the expansion titled Shattered Space, slated for autumn 2024.
