Gamer Sued After Being Slapped 4,800 Times in Game

The top-rated player of the online game Three Kingdoms Kill has filed a lawsuit against its developers, alleging that being penalized with more than 4,800 in-game items severely impacted his life.

As per the latest updates, a gamer going by the alias Qiaoben has been engaged in the strategic game Three Kingdoms Kill Online for an impressive 15 years. However, instead of praise, his triumphs against other players have sparked controversy.

Following games, players can hurl in-game objects such as eggs and sandals towards opponents’ virtual characters in a manner mimicking a smack, according to Qiaoben. Over a six-month span, he endured more than 4,800 of these items being hurled at him. In one particularly embarrassing incident, he alleges the slaps continued for over 90 seconds.

“Every time I am hit with eggs, I feel my self-esteem is harmed, and I get depressed,” he said.

Man takes legal action against Three Kingdoms Kill Online

Qiaoben thinks that since the game’s developer sells in-game items used for slapping other players with real money, it means they are earning profits from these embarrassing interchanges.

Instead of letting his grievances go unaddressed through customer service, Qiaoben chose to pursue a legal route by initiating a lawsuit and demanding compensation, without revealing the specific sum he is aiming for at this time.

As reported by NewsX, the developer claims it will cooperate with the courts in this legal case.

Legal specialists opine that Qiaoben might indeed have a valid claim, pointing out that getting hit with eggs is offensive and the in-game misbehavior may infringe upon players’ personal liberties.

Individuals within China hold a variety of views regarding the lawsuit. Some suggest that the act of tossing eggs following a loss is a means for them to preserve their “dignity” or maintain a sense of honor.

“No matter how strong a player is, they can still be crushed by eggs and straw sandals,” one said.

Someone commented that Qiaoben seems a little sad and amusing at the same time. They suggested it’s high time he stops playing this game.

The ongoing legal issue has started impacting the gameplay. The developer intends to impose limitations on the available items as a means of controlling their usage.
