Okay, so Microsoft just bumped up the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate by 50%, which kinda stings. They’re trying to sweeten the deal though, saying we’re getting more games now, plus access to the Fortnite Crew subscription, and improved cloud streaming. But here’s the catch – they’re also taking away one of the old perks, so it’s not *all* good news.
As a big fan, I just saw on CharlieIntel that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members don’t get the 10% discount on Call of Duty Points or BlackCell bundles anymore. It seems like this change happened pretty recently. Honestly, it was a really great perk for those of us who regularly buy DLC for Call of Duty, so it’s a bit of a bummer to see it go. I always appreciated being able to save a little money on BlackCell and points!
Folks online are heavily criticizing Microsoft due to the recent adjustments to Xbox Game Pass, and they’re expressing their frustration in creative ways – including using memes featuring Mr. Krabs to call out the company for being greedy.
Microsoft is increasing the prices of its Game Pass subscription and Xbox consoles while also eliminating thousands of jobs. This comes despite the company reporting a profit of $27.2 billion over the last three months. CEO Satya Nadella recently admitted that these cuts, while difficult, are a natural part of striving for success and maximizing profit, and that process can be “messy.”
Microsoft recently exceeded a total market capitalization of $4 trillion, making it only the second company-along with Nvidia-to ever achieve that milestone. Since then, Microsoft’s market cap has decreased slightly to approximately $3.8 trillion.
For other updates on Call of Duty, the multiplayer beta for Black Ops 7 is currently live. You can access it if you’ve preordered the game, have Game Pass Ultimate, or have obtained a beta code. The beta will be open to everyone starting October 5.
