Even though Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t included in Xbox Game Pass at its release, subscribers can still enjoy a benefit: those who buy Shadows will be able to play it via Xbox Cloud Gaming, given they are Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.
Microsoft has unveiled a new feature for its Ultimate tier subscribers called “stream your own game.” This feature allows users to stream their digital games, but it’s essential to note that it doesn’t apply to physical copies of the games. This offering differs from Xbox’s Play Anywhere program, which provides players with both Windows PC and Xbox versions if they purchase either version of a game.

Not every game available in the Game Pass collection can be streamed; only some of them. If a game departs from Game Pass, it will no longer be accessible for streaming even if you’ve bought it before. This feature is quite beneficial, although its extent of compatibility across various platforms remains uncertain. Among the games included in the “stream your own game” service are Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and Life is Strange: Double Exposure.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Notably, it has been confirmed as Steam Deck Verified, ensuring smooth gameplay on the device. For PS5 players, playing on a Pro model will grant access to advanced ray-tracing modes, improving its visuals even further.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that by pre-ordering Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I’ll get my hands on the Claws of Awaji expansion early this year! But don’t worry if you miss out, as I can still grab it separately at a later date.
