Xbox has unveiled Retro Classics, an upcoming assortment of iconic video games arriving across all Xbox Game Pass subscription levels. In partnership with Antstream Arcade, this compilation offers more than 60 Activision games dating back to the ’80s and ’90s, featuring hits like Pitfall, Commando, and Grand Prix. Spanning various gaming platforms, from the Atari 2600 to the PlayStation, the collection will initially launch with over 60 titles. Over time, it will grow to include over 100 games, with additional offerings from Activision and Blizzard as well.
Although MechWarrior 2 is the only game in our PlayStation category – as it was also released for Sega Saturn and PC – it’s intriguing to find a PlayStation title highlighted here, given that it’s compatible with Xbox Series X|S consoles as well.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled about the latest move by Xbox. They’re ramping up their game preservation and backwards compatibility efforts, and it’s all about Retro Classics now! Whether you’re gaming on console, PC, or cloud-based devices, you can jump right in. And guess what? Achievements are still up for grabs from these timeless titles. But that’s not all! There are numerous challenges to conquer across community challenges, competitive leaderboards, high-score rankings, and more. Let the gaming journey continue!
If you feel like giving it a shot, here’s the complete collection of games provided by Retro Classics at present:

Recently, various corporations have placed significant emphasis on the conservation of video games. For instance, last year, GOG unveiled their digital game preservation initiative, while this week, it was announced that Lost in Cult is launching a new program aimed at distributing complete physical editions of offline-playable games.
Additionally, several new games have been added to Xbox Game Pass, while you can also find out which games will be removed from the service by the end of May.
