Whiskerwood, a city-building game where cats and mice coexist, will be available on PC Game Pass starting November 6th. It’s developed by Hooded Horse Minakata Dynamics.
In Whiskerwood, you play as resourceful mice living under the rule of demanding cats. You’ll navigate the world by sea, discover new territories, and build settlements, all while trying to meet the ever-increasing requests of your feline overlords.
The game asks you to build places for trash and healthcare, keep buildings in good repair with heating, and put your mice to work farming, fishing, mining, and forestry. But be warned: cats need to be appeased, and your citizens will leave if you don’t meet their daily needs. Success depends on finding a careful balance between keeping the mice happy and satisfying the cats.
Players create intricate systems – like water pipes, conveyor belts, and ramps – to efficiently transport items. They also invest in research and development to unlock new technologies and build a better future for mice.
The game’s story describes a breaking point: a mouse, constantly pressured by an unreasonable cat, will eventually fight back. The cat demands more and more, ignoring the mouse’s hardship. Deliveries must always be made to the cat’s liking, or the cat will send its allies to enforce obedience. The question is, will you continue to submit to this tyranny, or will you finally rebel?
Xbox is planning its biggest-ever investment in Game Pass this year, despite recent criticism of the service – even from people who used to work at Xbox.
