Disney Plus is getting more expensive. Starting October 21st, all subscription plans will cost more, Disney has announced.
Disney Plus is raising the price of its plans. The version with ads will now cost $11.99 a month, an increase of $2. The ad-free Premium plan will go up by $3, to $18.99 per month.
Even those with yearly subscriptions will see a price increase. The Premium plan will now be $189.99 per year, a $30 increase from what it used to cost.
When Disney Plus first launched in 2019, it cost only $6.99 a month. Since then, the price has increased several times each October – in 2022, 2023, and again in 2024. While Disney’s streaming service finally became profitable last year, maintaining that success might rely on keeping its subscribers happy despite these ongoing price increases.
Disney raises prices amid Jimmy Kimmel controversy
Disney recently experienced a surge in cancellations following a decision to temporarily halt production of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’. This came after the show’s host made contentious remarks regarding the shooting of political activist Charlie Kirk and those who were with him.

ABC, which is owned by Disney, reversed its earlier decision after talking things over with Jimmy Kimmel. The show will be back on the air September 23rd, and there’s a simple way to watch it without paying.
Now that many people have canceled Disney Plus, it’s uncertain whether the higher prices will stop them from signing up again.
Unlike some other streaming services, this platform isn’t increasing its prices. YouTube, for example, has often been criticized for making its ad-free Premium plan more expensive.
