Game of Thrones War for Westeros turns Jon Snow into a White Walker

At the 2025 Summer Game Fest, a freshly announced Game of Thrones video game titled “War for Westeros” made its debut. This real-time strategy title seems poised to rewrite the rules, potentially transforming Jon Snow into a chilling White Walker.

The craze for games based on “Game of Thrones” continues unabated. Not just the mobile gaming world being dominated by “Kingsroad”, but also a high-budget real-time strategy game is in development now.

Although we haven’t seen any actual gameplay yet, a cinematic trailer has given us a glimpse into what we can expect when the game launches for PC in 2026.

In a manner similar to popular real-time strategy games like StarCraft and Age of Empires, we’ll have different nations from Westeros fighting each other in this game. You can assume command over the White Walker army, transforming fallen icons into your undead ranks, or lead the charge on horseback as Jaime Lannister. The character designs are strikingly similar to the live-action HBO series.

The strategy game “War for Westeros,” produced by PlaySide Studios based in Australia, is known for its traditional RTS feel and provides various methods of conflict engagement.

Initially, it seems that four factions will be at your disposal for command and conflict, as stated in a press release. These include House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, and an army of the Night King’s undead. All are potential participants.

Absolutely! It’s quite plausible that we’ll see more characters and their units joining the game after its release. I can’t wait for House Bolton to join in, they’re known for getting pretty ruthless, you know!

In the game, you have an option to either challenge AI-controlled armies by yourself or participate in a multiplayer mode where everyone competes freely, each commanding their unique factions.

In the heat of battle, players have the option to use infantry, cavalry, siege weapons, giants, and dragons strategically to breach enemy formations. They can outsmart and outwit their opponents using inspiring hero skills and the relentless tactics of a seasoned military leader.
