Okay, so it looks like we’re finally getting a Game of Thrones movie! As a huge fan, I always felt the Battle of Winterfell deserved the big screen treatment, and it seems like that might actually happen. Word on the street, via Page Six Hollywood, is that Beau Willimon – the writer behind shows like Andor and House of Cards – is already working on the script, and he’s apparently turned in a first draft to Warner Bros. Right now, that’s all we know – no director is attached yet, but I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for more updates!
Ever since the TV show Game of Thrones was popular, people have talked about making a movie. Recently, The Hollywood Reporter interviewed George R.R. Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, and reported that Warner Bros. is seriously considering a new project. This could be a spin-off series or a large-scale movie, similar to Dune, focusing on the story of Aegon Targaryen – the first Targaryen king – and his conquest of Westeros after leaving Valyria. Essentially, it would tell the story of how the Iron Throne came to be!
If Willimon is indeed working on a *Game of Thronesstyle series, it’s a story too tempting to pass up for a big-screen adaptation – and David Ellison clearly wants to be involved in successful franchises anyway.
