It’s been found that a significant cheat exists within Overwatch 2, enabling players to exit matches without facing any penalties or losing their Skill Rating (SR).
Generally speaking, quitting an Overwatch 2 game prematurely often results in consequences. First, your skill level will decrease due to the loss. Second, you’ll be temporarily banned from playing again, meaning you won’t be able to jump back into a new match immediately.
Now, even when a game isn’t going well for the players, they can’t simply abandon it without facing penalties. However, a fresh loophole has emerged that significantly alters this rule.
At the moment, Overwatch 2 features a temporary 6v6 competitive setting where it appears players can exit without facing any penalties for now.
Overwatch 2 exploit prevents leavers from losing SR or being suspended
According to Overwatch 2 player Mason ‘durpee’ Kuehne, it’s possible for players in the 6v6 mode to exit a game without their Skill Rating (SR) being affected.
Dupree shared a clip from Kyle ‘Rakattack’ Rakauskas’s live Twitch broadcast, where Rakattack ended the game just before time expired. At that moment, Dupree was on the losing team.
As a gamer, I’d like to share some insights about leaving a match in team-based modes such as 6v6. Contrary to what some might think, you won’t face penalties like suspension or SR loss when you log out of a game, provided it’s not during the actual match.
Recently, I found myself in a situation where the lobby never loaded, and surprisingly, I didn’t suffer any consequences. To verify this, I intentionally logged out three seconds before I would have faced a penalty the other day.
In essence, you can log out of a game without worry (at least in 6v6) if it’s before the match begins.

He shared that recently, he exited a game immediately upon joining (since the lobby was terminated), and he hadn’t forfeited any items. To verify this, he logged out three seconds prior to potentially losing today.
From DuPree’s perspective, ten minutes following the game, there was no suspension imposed on him, and his Skill Rating (SR) remained unchanged.
As stated by Dupree, he chose to disclose the information freely instead of keeping it exclusive. This action might compel Blizzard to swiftly fix the exploit if it gains notice.
After a ten-minute wait, I found the same scene upon logging back in, with no signs of a suspension or change in my Skill Rating yet.

“Annnnnnd submitting this tweet to OW Support, you’re done for pal,” one user said.
“Is this why I’ve seen an uptick in leavers recently?” another asked.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve stumbled upon an issue that seems to be an exploit in the game, and it appears that some users with artificially high ranks are using it to their advantage. Whether Blizzard is aware of this yet or working on a solution, caution is advised for fellow players until it’s resolved.
