Game Based on Netflix’s ‘Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance’ Launches in ‘Fortnite’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a lifelong cinephile with a penchant for both anime and video games, I must say that the convergence of these two worlds in “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance – Red vs. Blue” has me absolutely thrilled! The immersive first-person cockpit view promises to bring the mobile suit experience to a whole new level, and as someone who’s always dreamt of being a Gundam pilot, this is nothing short of a dream come true.

As a die-hard anime fan, I’m super excited that my favorite streaming platform, Netflix, is bringing “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance” to life in a whole new way! Starting this Friday, you can jump into the action of the show within Fortnite with the release of the game, “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance – Red vs. Blue.” Get ready to suit up and join the battle!

The game was collaboratively created by Bandai Namco Entertainment America, along with Look North World (founded by Bungie’s Alexander Seropian), using Unreal Engine specifically for “Fortnite.” This game is characterized as a competitive, team-oriented encounter, where up to 20 participants in each round can pick sides between the Zeon or Earth Federation Forces factions and engage in combat.

In the gameplay style of “Red vs. Blue”, when a round begins, players pick their battleground and move into their individual bases to arm themselves with weapons of their preference. The main goals are to fight tactically to capture the vital MS Reactor Power. Each faction is provided with a Cache near their base, while additional Caches are scattered throughout the landscape. Players gather MS Reactor Power from these Caches. To achieve victory, teams must work together to amass 200 units of MS Reactor Power, which then enables them to activate their team’s unique Mobile Suit, like the Gundam EX or ZAKU II (Unidentified Type) Solari, and have a significant impact on the battle’s outcome.

For the very first time in “Fortnite”, the game “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance – Red vs. Blue” offers an engaging, first-person cockpit perspective, allowing players to feel like they’re actually piloting a “Gundam” within their Mobile Suit.

Seropian shared with EbMaster that the distinctive nature of Mobile Suits from ‘Gundam’ is captivating, whether you’re observing them in a show, playing with toys, or encountering them in a game. When they appear, it’s impossible to ignore them, and an instant desire arises to control them, causing havoc on the scene.

According to Bandai Namco, this game comes equipped with a diverse selection of iconic weapons from each faction’s armory, aiming to optimize combat and robot takedowns by eliminating the need for excessive searching, looting, and traversal. Players will be evaluated weekly on global leaderboards, and those who excel may receive in-game currency Vbucks and Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance Gunpla model kits as rewards.

You can access ‘Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance – Red vs. Blue’ in ‘Fortnite’ by entering the island code, which is 7089-7797-5952.

Karim Farghaly, senior vice president of corporate development at Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc., shared that they have several exciting developments planned for the ‘Gundam’ IP. For animation, there are upcoming storylines in store. In terms of video games, we’re working on new titles for PC/console and mobile gaming platforms. The success of ‘Gundam’ spans over four decades, particularly in Asia, but there’s a tremendous opportunity in the U.S. market as well, given the positive reaction to the show so far. He anticipates that the ‘Fortnite’ experience will be equally successful. Therefore, depending on the type of universes and new content we create from this brand, various experiences can be expected. However, linear content, video game content, and toy content will always remain a part of the ‘Gundam’ brand.
