As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the performance of G2 Esports at BLAST Fall Groups 2024 has been nothing short of astonishing. Their victory over FaZe Clan, particularly their reverse sweep, was a testament to their resilience and adaptability. After the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024, G2 Esports recruited Guatemalan rifler Mario “malbsMd” Samayoam and Polish veteran Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski for their team roster. With these rostermania adjustments made, there was some uncertainty about how well G2 Esports would fare at the BLAST Fall Groups 2024, as teams often require time to mesh perfectly.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that G2 Esports started BLAST Fall Groups 2024 on a high note, sweeping NiP 2-0 in the opening round. On the fourth day, they pulled off an impressive upset against a formidable FaZe Clan, reverse-sweeping them 2-1 to advance to the grand final of Group C!
Initially, G2 Esports secured the first round on their chosen map, Ancient. However, this wasn’t an impressive start, as it was quickly overshadowed by FaZe Clan’s Norwegian player, Håvard “rain” Nygaard, who stunned everyone with a stunning four kills in the second round while defending B site.
In the match between FaZe Clan and G2 on Ancient, FaZe Clan managed to gain a slight advantage. Despite G2 securing nine rounds in total, they struggled to secure victory. With FaZe Clan emerging victorious on G2’s chosen map with a score of 13-9, it seemed that there was little chance for the team led by Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas…but things didn’t turn out as expected.
In the initial half of the map selection, Nuke, G2 displayed exceptional performance on the defensive CT side, leading 2-0 against FaZe Clan before their first full buy. However, it was Mario “malbsMd” Samayoam who turned the tide, racking up a remarkable four kills on B site defense using an MP9, significantly impacting FaZe’s economy and earning a substantial amount of money for his team.
In the first half, an extraordinary performance by a player using the MP9, resulting in four kills, gave G2 Esports a dominant 9-3 lead. This strong start enabled them to ultimately win Nuke with a score of 13-6, tying the series at 1-1.

On the map Mirage, G2 Esports overpowered FaZe Clan, securing a decisive 13-6 win following an impressive first half performance on the defensive side. This outcome marked a reverse sweep for G2, eliminating FaZe Clan and moving them to the lower bracket of Group C.
In the lower part of the group, underdog team NIP eliminated Cloud9 in a reverse sweep, keeping their tournament hopes alive. G2 Esports stands ready to face either FaZe or NIP in the Group C finals; the victor of that match will earn a spot at the BLAST Fall Final 2024 event.
