As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for JRPGs and a soft spot for underdog stories, I find myself quite intrigued by the announcement of Crystar coming to the PlayStation 5. Having played it on my trusty PS4 back in the day, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia, reminiscing about the countless hours spent battling demons and exploring the vibrant world of Atrium.
Furuya has shared the news that they’ll be launching a native PlayStation 5 edition of Crystar. The debut of this new version is set for February 27, 2025, initially in Japan.
The latest PS5 version offers more than 30 DLC costumes within the game itself right away. Furthermore, FuRyu plans to release a special digital edition only available online, which includes a digital artbook as well. Notably, these features mirror those of the Nintendo Switch port, which debuted in Japan in February 2022 and later in other regions.
When revealing details about the PS5 version, Furuyu hasn’t specified if players of the current PS4 release can transfer their saved progress to the new version. To remind you, Furuyu initially released the game for the PS4 in Japan back in 2018, and like many other PS4 games, it’s playable on the PS5 due to backwards compatibility.
