FromSoftware is struggling to squash an Elden Ring Nightreign bug that sees its new, third boss bug vanish from a notorious duo bug fight, making it impossible to win

When confronting the Everdark Sentient Pest boss, the initial stages resemble a typical battle. But there’s an unusual twist: a pair of common insects initiate the second phase. Once defeated, a large, red moth named Animus, Ascendant Light resurrects its two companions and resumes the fight. Defeating either original opponent will cause Animus to take control of their bodies, making them stronger. Attacking these possessed creatures reduces the new moth’s health, bringing you closer to defeating it and securing victory.

According to what we’ve been told, this is how things should unfold. However, since the new boss was introduced, numerous players have reported unexpected issues where the battle suddenly stops, and the Animus seems to vanish, unwilling to aid its deceased insect comrades.

The player is asking for help after defeating both bosses, as they no longer appear, and he’s looking for solutions on the game’s subreddit during an otherwise quiet battle.

The problem was with the bug, but during phase two, we managed to revive both parts of it. However, when we defeated the large bug, there was no chance for it to come back. After killing [Gnoster], I waited around for about ten minutes in the arena, but nothing else happened or appeared.

Gladly, it didn’t take long for FromSoftware to acknowledge the issue. Yesterday, on their official Elden Ring account, the developers addressed the trio of bug bosses with a light-hearted tweet, stating that they had “identified a glitch.” They mentioned that this glitch could potentially make adventures “impossible to finish,” but have now rectified it in a “partial temporary hotfix” which was released earlier today. However, as FromSoftware humorously added, it seems the issue persists.

The problem hasn’t been solved yet… I’m not trying to be funny, but seriously,” one player writes in response to the latest update. “I downloaded the quick fix, but the boss is still nowhere to be found, so I’m putting out an urgent alert,” says another. “I don’t believe it’s been fixed. There are numerous reports that Sentient Pest continues to malfunction even after the hotfix, just like before the update,” another player replies.

It appears that additional problems related to the Everdark Sovereign Sentient Pest have been spotted by Elden Ring developers, which were expected to be resolved in a future update along with a long-term solution for the current bug. However, it seems some work remains to be done on what was previously thought to be resolved. Here’s hoping that the upcoming battle will become free of glitches soon, or more accurately, let’s hope there won’t be any bugs in the future—since eliminating them is the challenge at hand.
