FromSoftware fans debate what’s next for the studio

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that FromSoftware has become a household name for us enthusiasts who crave challenging experiences wrapped in intricate narratives. The anticipation following the release of Shadow of the Erdtree has left us all scratching our heads, wondering what’s next for this illustrious studio.

Speaking of FromSoftware, they truly excel at creating exceptional games that leave people yearning for a touch more. Since the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, there’s been quite a buzz on Twitter about what exciting projects might be in store for the team next.

It’s not surprising that there’s speculation right now, given how long it’s been since FromSoftware has been out of the spotlight. We’ve had Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Armored Core to keep us busy for a while, and then came Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, causing quite a stir. However, after all that excitement, it’s strange that we don’t know what’s happening next. In other words, since the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, there’s been a noticeable silence from FromSoftware, leaving us all wondering what’s next.

As a long-time fan of FromSoftware games, I must say it feels like the end of an era for me. Growing up playing Dark Souls and Bloodborne, I have always been captivated by their intricate gameplay mechanics, immersive storytelling, and challenging boss battles. With Elden Ring being officially completed and no plans for further DLC or a sequel in the immediate future, it’s hard not to feel a sense of nostalgia and melancholy.

As a devoted fan, I’ve been pondering over the question: What lies ahead for the creative minds at FromSoftware? A lively discussion ignited on Twitter by the user @MesasLG has sparked many intriguing ideas, and they even shared their own thought-provoking suggestion.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but express my fascination with the concept of a sci-fi/horror dungeon crawler that exudes the captivating vibe of Blame! and Giger’s unique aesthetics. However, if they were to create any type of horror game, I would be just as thrilled, given their evident passion for this genre, which shines brightly in all their Souls series creations.

FromSoftware venturing into sci-fi horror could indeed be an innovative step for them, considering their distance from fantasy with Armored Core and their expertise in crafting chilling atmospheres for the SoulsBorneRingDieTwice series. Given their capabilities, such a venture seems feasible. Moreover, a game inspired by Blame! and H.R Giger’s unique style would undoubtedly be captivating, even though Blame! has had minimal direct video game adaptations. However, H.R Giger has shown immense potential in the gaming world, as evident with Scorn, which was released in 2022, directly drawing inspiration from his works.

Some players are asking for games similar to Sekiro, but with a stronger emphasis on story and single-player mode, while others prefer games focusing on magic in the same way Sekiro emphasizes swordplay.

Instead of focusing on swordplay as seen in games like Sekiro and Bloodborne, they’ve opted for titles emphasizing parrying and dodge roll mechanics. However, it’d be fascinating to explore a Souls-style game centered around magic instead. By making magic the core element and developing the world around that concept, such a game could truly be spectacular.

Having spent countless hours immersed in the intricate worlds of FromSoftware games, I’ve always found myself captivated by rumors and lore surrounding their titles. One such tale that has piqued my curiosity for quite some time is the legend of a mysterious, ‘leaked’ game called ‘Spellbound’. As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel drawn to this enigmatic project, fueled by whispers from the gaming community and tantalizing glimpses of concept art that have surfaced over the years. The idea of an unfinished FromSoftware masterpiece waiting to be unearthed is as alluring as it is elusive.

While you may come across numerous references to Spellbound when researching FromSoftware online, it’s essential to keep in mind that most of the alleged leaks have been quite vague at best. One image, suspected to be AI-generated, and certain ‘information’ that appears more like fan speculation than solid facts.

Reddit boasts a dedicated community centered around this questionable title, but the majority of members primarily use it as a platform for friendly jesting, likely because they believe the title is completely fabricated.

Given all the speculation, only FromSoftware themselves hold the key to what they’re working on next. We can only anticipate their next move, which could potentially revolutionize gaming once again. As for my personal hope, it’s amusingly quirky to imagine them surprising us with a point-and-click dating simulator game, but I can merely fantasize about this possibility.
