It’s almost typical for FromSoftware to roll out significant game updates without much fanfare, and this instance is no exception.
Absolutely, this update includes bug corrections and overall equilibrium tweaks; however, FromSoftware consistently strives to deliver more than expected to its players, and the recent patch demonstrates just that.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s “Everdark Sovereign” mode was shadow-dropped

Update 1.01.3 for Elden Ring Nightreign has introduced a new gameplay mode called Everdark Sovereign, which adds fresh content to the game. Over the coming weeks, stronger variants of certain Nightlords – specifically, Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest, and Darkdrift Knight – will become playable as ‘Everdark Sovereigns’ within the game.
In upcoming game updates, we’ll introduce stronger variants of the Nightlords, known as the Other Everdark Sovereigns. But here’s a twist: You can already battle the First Everdark Sovereign in the game – it’s none other than Adel, Baron of Night, also known as the Gaping Jaw.
As a gamer, if you thought the original Adel was a tough cookie, just wait until you go head-to-head with Adel 2.0! He’s confirmed to be significantly more challenging, boasting fresh moves and a hike in damage output. This intense battle is set to unfold from June 19 to June 26. After that, a new Everdark Sovereign boss will step into the limelight.
Following our current interaction, the Everdark Sovereign won’t be found in any upcoming expeditions temporarily. Each week, a fresh Everdark Sovereign emerges in Limveld. If you’ve successfully defeated their base forms like Adel, you’ll have an opportunity to battle their advanced versions during your expedition within the game Elden Ring Nightreign.
Players who have defeated Adel, the Night Baron (Gaping Jaw) in Elden Ring Nightreign, now have the opportunity to battle his monstrous form, adorned in regal purple, until June 26th. Following this date, the Sentient Pest will make its appearance as the next Everdark Sovereign within the game.
The ongoing journey against the Everdark Sovereigns retains its usual structure, but the Nightlords are set for an upgrade, incorporating fresh tactics, enhanced vitality, and amplified harm inflicted on Nightfarers. Yet, the prizes you reap upon vanquishing them will outweigh the expedition’s challenges.
Sovereign Sigils change the meta for Elden Ring Nightreign
Triumphing over the Everdark Sovereigns within Elden Ring Nightreign will earn you a novel currency named Sovereign Sigils. These distinctive tokens can be traded for exclusive Relics and chalices across all character classes, particularly benefiting the Revenant class.
1) This significantly alters how the game is played, as defeating an Everdark Sovereign for the first time rewards a higher number of Sovereign Sigils. Defeating Everdark Sovereigns repeatedly can earn more Sovereign Sigils, but subsequent victories yield fewer Sigils compared to the initial reward.
A significant update to the game now lets players intentionally trigger Earth Shift occurrences using in-game funds, turning these events from random occurrences into guaranteed ones. Additionally, the Roundtable Hold can now be restored to a pre-endgame status.
Essentially, that’s the gist of the significant updates. However, FromSoftware has seen fit to make necessary tweaks for balance and squash a few bugs in Elden Ring Nightreign, as detailed on their official site. Here are all the modifications they’ve outlined:
- Increased the chance of obtaining weapons with the madness status ailment.
- Adjusted the Whirlwind skill effect visibility when the Relic Effect “[Guardian] Increased duration for Character Skill” is active.
- Fixed a bug where the Demon Merchant would spawn near the Night’s Tide when the Demon Merchant curse event was encountered.
- Fixed a bug where damage dealt to some enemies when destroying weak points created by Ironeye’s “Marking” skill was higher or lower than expected.
- Fixed a bug where the Lightning Damage received from enemies would be nullified when affected by the Passive Effect “Power of the Great Ancient Dragon” of the “Bolt of Gransax” weapon.
- Fixed a bug where the Ultimate Art gauge was filled more than expected when attacking some enemies.
- Fixed a bug where the Relic Effect “Switching Weapons Adds an Affinity Attack” did not properly reflect the attribute when applied to Bows and Crossbows.
- Fixed a bug where the amount of Runes needed to purchase Uncommon weapons from merchants was incorrectly calculated.
- Fixed a bug where players would lose a battle after being revived from near death against a Nightlord or other Night bosses.
- Fixed a bug in some Multiplayer battles against a Nightlord where the camera would not display at the correct angle when not targeting an enemy.
- Fixed a bug where lingering character phantoms did not appear in Limveld.
- Added staff information in the game’s credits.
- Fixed a bug where the game might freeze momentarily or for an extended period in some environments. (Steam-only)
