Actress Linda Cardellini will take on the main character in the upcoming “Friday the 13th” prequel series on Peacock, according to our latest information.
Actress Cardellini has been cast as Pamela Voorhees for the expanded prequel series, titled “Crystal Lake.” This show was directly commissioned by Peacock back in 2022.
Aficionados of the “Friday the 13th” series might remember that Pamela Voorhees was Jason Voorhees’ mom, the masked killer who terrorized in numerous films within this horror saga. However, it was Jason himself who was a child that drowned at Camp Crystal Lake in the first movie. His tragic demise sparked his mother, Pamela, to take vengeance against the counselors she believed were responsible for her son’s untimely death.
Actress Alison Brie (Cardellini) has been chosen to star in the upcoming HBO show “DTF St. Louis,” alongside David Harbour and Jason Bateman. With three Emmy nominations under her belt, one for “Mad Men” and two for “Dead to Me,” she’s a familiar face on television, having also appeared on shows like “Freaks and Geeks,” “ER,” and “Bloodline.” In film, Cardellini is recognized for her roles in the “Scooby-Doo” live-action series, movies such as “Brokeback Mountain,” “The Founder,” and playing Laura Barton within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
She is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
In August 2024, Brad Caleb Kane assumed multiple roles, including creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer on “Crystal Lake.” Additionally, A24 is serving as an executive producer. Victor Miller, who wrote the original script for the franchise, continues to be involved as an executive producer, along with Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil. Notably, A24 is the production studio behind this project.
The first “Friday the 13th” movie was unveiled back in 1980. Surprisingly, it generated almost $60 million in revenue while only requiring a budget of half a million dollars. Over the years, additional films have been added to the series, such as “Jason X,” “Freddy vs. Jason,” and the 2009 remake. Starting from the second movie, Jason took on the role of the central villain.
