At CinemaCon, the yearly convention for movie exhibitors, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis offered a special sneak peek of “Freakier Friday”. This means that theater owners can temporarily relax as they’ve been given an early look at the upcoming film.
In Disney’s initial movie released in 2003 titled “Freaky Friday”, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis portray a mother-daughter duo who exchange bodies following the consumption of a mystical fortune cookie. The timing couldn’t have been more inconvenient… Lohan’s character Anna was preparing for her band’s pivotal performance (you might recognize their catchy single “Ultimate”) while Curtis’ Tess was on the verge of remarrying. The sequel, set approximately two decades later than the original film, increases the stakes with a four-way body swap. This time around, it’s not only Tess and Anna who experience walking in each other’s shoes… Anna’s daughter and her new stepdaughter also find themselves waking up in different bodies.
It’s hard to express just how fantastic it feels to step into Anna and Tess’ roles once again,” Lohan shared with the gathering of cinema owners at Disney’s CinemaCon event on Thursday afternoon.
Curtis spoke up, “However, we don’t typically wear those shoes for extended periods. This coming Friday is more unusual since we’re doing twice the number of changes. You’ll witness an unprecedented transformation of me, thanks to a particularly bold adolescent overhaul.
In the Caesars Palace room, Anna and Tess concoct a scheme to meet up with Jake, a past love interest known for singing “…Baby One More Time,” in a record store. The video excerpt, accompanied by “Hot to Go!” by Chappell Roan, leaves us guessing why the pair are pursuing him – it could be an attempt to revisit the location of their last body-swap occurrence.
Tess suggests, ‘You just need to step into that place and charm Jake, reminding him of the spark we shared during our youth.’ But I pause, thinking, ‘I wasn’t quite myself back then. I’m unsure about how to flirt as I am now.’
Anna starts feeling a bit bewildered (since it was Jake who had feelings for her mom rather than her in the movie “Freaky Friday”). She muses aloud, “I’m not sure how to flirt as an older person. Do they chat about reading glasses or something? Is John Mayer a topic of conversation?
Unfortunately, when Anna attempts to win Jake over with her charms, she discovers that he hasn’t spent all those years dreaming about her instead.

Unfortunately, Anna finds out that Jake hasn’t been daydreaming about her for all these years as she tries to win him over with her charm offensive.

Regrettably, it turns out that Jake hasn’t been dreaming about Anna for all those years, despite her efforts to win him over with her charm.
Anna queries, ‘Have you ever pondered about us?’ To which Jake responds, ‘I’m not certain there’s a correct response to that query.’ When she attempts to be alluring, he gets concerned, thinking she might be experiencing a medical emergency. Jake then states, ‘I recognize what this is,’ as Anna suggestively nibbles her upper lip. ‘It appears you’re having a health issue,’ he adds.
It seems like Jake’s feelings for Tess haven’t faded away. Instead of beating around the bush, he inquires about her marital status and the age of her husband: “I find myself at a loss when it comes to discussing this matter. Are you still married? And if so, what is your husband’s current age?
Despite his advanced years, which we choose not to discuss, Mark Harmon returns to portray Tess’s husband. As Tess herself puts it, “We don’t bring up his age, he’s somewhere in the range of fifty to a hundred.
Nisha Ganatra, renowned for her work on “Late Night” with Mindy Kaling and “The High Note,” is at the helm of “Freakier Friday,” set to hit theaters on August 8th. Lohan and Curtis will be joined by Manny Jacinto, who stars in “The Good Place,” breakout star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan from “Never Have I Ever,” and scene-stealer Julia Butters from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
In his introduction, Disney’s distribution head, Andrew Cripps, labeled “Freaky Friday” as a movie that “shaped an era for devoted followers.
Since the unveiling of this project, there’s been an amazing reaction online,” Cripps stated. “The affection for our pair of celebrities is truly remarkable.
